TCAP releases Environmental and Social Impact Assessments for public review

In conjunction with the Pacific Community (SPC), the Tuvalu Coastal Adaptation Project has completed Environmental and Social Impact Assessments for the islands of Funafuti, Nanumea and Nanumaga.

The recently completed assessments outline the project’s proposed coastal protection infrastructure to reduce inundation and coastal erosion, examining baseline conditions and potential qualitative and quantitative impacts of pre-construction, construction, and operational phases, while also setting out measures to avoid, reduce, or mitigate identified impacts.

The ESIA have been prepared in accordance UNDP and Green Climate Fund requirements and in-line with Tuvaluan law and can be viewed online at the following links:
